I Fired My CEO

Why does starting a business have to be so serious?

I recently shared a video on Instagram where I announced that I fired the CEO of my company. The CEO is, in fact, me. I'm a one-woman show over here.

But the version of myself who was showing up was the older version. She was uptight and trying to be all professional and serious. Why? That's not me!

I feel like there are often scenarios where, because we're conditioned to be a certain way, we don't show up fully. I want to call BS on that!

Why can't we show up as ourselves at work? Why can't we show up as ourselves in social settings or with family? We put on an act to fit in and I understand why. It goes back to very old ways of being where we had to rely on others for survival.

And we still do need others! But we can't always let that dictate how we move about in the world and sacrifice so much of ourselves to "fit in".

My declaration about firing the CEO was a declaration to myself and others that I'd gone a little off the path that I am meant to be on. And it was a demonstration on how I want to show up; with 3 sets of shoulder pads and a smirk.
